Commons
[edit]Ook hallo! -- Solitude 13:36, Sep 27, 2004 (UTC)
I don't know what editarticle.py is, but please don't use it again until the part is fixed where it breaks links across newlines. That's pretty bad. Knudde met een rietje, zeg maar. :-) JRM 13:54, 2004 Nov 15 (UTC)
- Sorry. The error is not in editarticle.py, but caused by my editor doing newlines, but I should have thought of it and prevented it by hand. I will next time. Gerritholl aka Topjaklont | Talk 14:06, 15 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- I hacked editarticle.py to replace all newlines not followed by a whitespace-only line with a single space character. Thank you for your feedback. Gerritholl aka Topjaklont | Talk 15:12, 15 Nov 2004 (UTC)
Map of Lapland
[edit]I do not have anything that could be used right away. If you want to do such a map yourself, maybe Image:Nordic-countries.png would be usefull? I have done location maps for Finnish towns and municipalities, for example Image:Finnish map with Rovaniem highlighted.png. I guess something similar for Sweden and Norway would be best. -- Jniemenmaa 18:27, 25 Nov 2004 (UTC)

A message to the Wikipedia:WikiProject Rivers participants
[edit]Would you, please, consider participation in the discussion about the naming of the articles on rivers? Certain users suggested that the word "River" should be omitted from the title. Currently the discussion is held at User talk:Markussep#River naming, but it will hopefully be moved to Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Rivers soon. Summary element and Mgmbot
[edit]I'd already put a speedy tag on Summary element. Your Mgmbot added a second one. Maybe it still needs a bit of work? — P Ingerson (talk) 16:32, 26 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- My bot is user-controlled. Before a user decides an article should get a speedy tag, it shows the contents of the article to the user. The user then decides, and the bot then adds it if the user decides to do so. It is possible that between those two instants, someone else has added a speedy tag to the article. A solution might be to ensure the article is unchanged between the two instants. Gerrit CUTEDH 28 June 2005 09:37 (UTC)

[edit]Now, I'll be damned if I understand why you show up in the ga-0 category, and I, who uses the exact same template (and has the category showing up on my user page), do not. Any ideas?--Ag Foghlaim 21:52, 3 November 2005 (UTC)
Might I ask why you wish to use a separate page only for transcluding a single line in a template? Radiant_>|< 15:40, 9 November 2005 (UTC)
- It was messing up the community portal, because the entire article got included. Gerrit CUTEDH 15:42, 9 November 2005 (UTC)
- Yes, but why are you including a single line, rather than including the LPMCOTW template, or simply copy/pasting the name of the current collaboration? Because that's what every other COTW does. Radiant_>|< 00:52, 10 November 2005 (UTC)

Extremes on Earth
[edit]I restored Eureka as the coldest average place based on verifiable data. If you look at Environment Canada's weather data for Eureka and Resolute you can see that the daily average for the year is -19.7 for Eureka and -16.4 for Resolute. Also, Alert is -18. Oymyakon is difficult to research as this only gives the daily weather and most sites are only interested in the fact that it got down to -65, -68 or -71 depending on where you look. The problem is that it may be colder on average but it's not possible to say for sure. I did use the link to Oymyakon to check their summer temperatures and they seem to be a bit warmer than Eureka. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 07:50, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
- OK. I was basing myself on Resolute, Nunavut, which quotes an average temperature of -23. Gerrit CUTEDH 08:19, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
- I edited that and never noticed it. Thanks for spotting it. Environment Canada are so helpful in providing free weather services. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 08:46, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

Copyright concerns, Harry van Bommel
[edit]Hi. Another contributor has tagged Harry van Bommel for copyright concerns, citing its source as [1]. It was listed according to procedure at Wikipedia:Copyright problems/2009 January 22, but evidently you were not notified. I see you indicated in edit summary that you had permission to replicate this material. Please see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for the requisite steps for verifying that. In brief, a GFDL release at the website, which is still marked © SP 1996-2006, would suffice. Otherwise, we can use an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication. If you have any questions about the verification procedure, please let me know at my talk page. Thanks. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 14:32, 23 January 2009 (UTC)

Where possible, I have incorporated updates with attribution in edit summary. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 15:53, 6 February 2009 (UTC)
Message regarding your use of the No Multi License Template
[edit]In case you are not aware, the Wikimedia Foundation has proposed that the copyright licensing terms on the wikis operated by the WMF – including Wikipedia – be changed to include the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike (CC-BY-SA) license in addition to the current GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) as allowed by version 1.3 of the GFDL. The community has approved this change with 75.8% in favor, and on June 15, 2009, the change will take effect.
You currently have {{NoMultiLicense}} on your user or user talk page, which states that your edits are licensed under the GFDL only. On or before June 15, this template will be changed to reflect Wikipedia's new licensing terms. If you accept the licensing change, you do not need to do anything (and feel free to remove this message); if you do not accept it, we regret that you will no longer be able to contribute to the encyclopedia. Please join the discussion at Wikipedia:Village pump (policy)#NoMultiLicense template if you have any comments.

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference
[edit]Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.
On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true
. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false
in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being minor in the usual way.
For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. With the script in place, you can continue with this functionality indefinitely (its use is governed by WP:MINOR). If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.
Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 19:00, 15 March 2011 (UTC)

The article Bengt Pohjanen has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.
If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. J04n(talk page) 17:43, 25 October 2017 (UTC)

Swiss referendum
[edit]Hello. I invited you to the AfD even though you'd already said you challenged the speedy deletion. However, I also asked you to review the article, its content, and its sourcing. There are lots of bad citations and lots of text unrelated to the Swiss Referendum in the current version of the article. Recently some editors have found better sources by googling the German term for the proposition, and I'm now hopeful that we may be able to get a decent article from them. I hope you'll join in that effort. I also would ask you again to review the current text and sources, which you appear to be endorsing at the AfD, and which are highly questionable, for reasons that have been enumerated on the article talk page. At any rate, thanks for joining and I hope we can get many more editors to work on this. SPECIFICO talk 17:34, 14 June 2018 (UTC)

The article FairBnB has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
WP:TOOSOON. Sources are about the company's launch, and there is not enough significant coverage about the company's merits to warrant a page.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Willsome429 (say hey or see my edits!) 14:26, 2 April 2019 (UTC)
- Do not both the Forbes and the taz article count as significant, independent, reliable, and secondary, thus meeting the notability for organisations and companies? Does not the fact that the launch of an organisation is causing international significant press coverage (there are Italian and Spanish language sources too) evidence of notability? I don't see anything on organisations in the TOOSOON essay either (and is this just an essay or enwiki policy?). I am considering to challenge this proposed deletion (would it in this case go to AfD? I know AfD and Speedy deletion but I'm new to "Proposed deletion"). --Gerrit CUTEDH 16:14, 2 April 2019 (UTC)
